LEGO Ideas 21326 Winnie the Pooh officially revealed

The LEGO Ideas team is about to pay a visit to the Hundred Acre Wood for its latest set, which has now been officially unveiled as 21326 Winnie the Pooh.

The 1,265-piece model is the brainchild of Ben Alder, who first submitted his proposal to the crowdsourcing platform all the way back in March 2019. It then reached 10,000 supporters in August, before being given the green light by the LEGO Group in February 2020, alongside Clemens Fiedler’s 21325 Medieval Blacksmith.

It’s been a long road to this announcement, but the fan designer and his family can finally revel in seeing their idea hit shelves on March 18 for VIP members, or April 1 for everyone else. The finished product retains the DNA of Alder’s concept, depicting Winnie the Pooh’s home in the Hundred Acre Wood, but switches up both the colours and building techniques.

Probably the biggest deviation from the original design, however, is in how small hands can access the interior of Pooh’s house. Where Alder’s model featured a lift-away roof, 21326 Winnie the Pooh can be opened dollhouse-style to play in the detailed interior. That’s definitely a positive change in our books, though – and this still looks way more faithful to what Alder had in mind than 21325 Medieval Blacksmith did to Fiedler’s initial proposal.

“I love Winnie the Pooh and remember my parents reading it to me as a child,” Alder said. “I now read the same Winnie the Pooh stories to my children, so it is certainly something dear to my heart. I decided to make the set so that my children could bring to life our bedtime stories, but never quite expected the positive reaction it has received.”

You can’t bring Winnie the Pooh to life without Winnie the Pooh himself, of course, nor the iconic cast of characters that populate A.A. Milne’s world. To that end, 21326 Winnie the Pooh includes four brand new minifigures with unique head moulds, plus a specially-moulded Eeyore figure. You can take a closer look at those characters by clicking here, or see the full gallery of images right here.

“Winnie the Pooh is a 95-year-old story that is loved globally, so seeing Ben’s design sparked a lot of nostalgia for us all,” said Federico Begher, VP of Global Marketing at The LEGO Group. “Plus, his personal story about how he created the set for his family to play out the lovely Winnie the Pooh stories using LEGO bricks felt like a beautiful combination of family, LEGO bricks, and Winnie the Pooh that we wanted to share with others.

“We also had the rare treat of being able to create all-new characters for this LEGO Ideas set. We simply had to see how the line-up of Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit and Piglet would look like in minifigure shape, as well as creating a brand-new Eeyore figure! The stories of the Hundred Acre Wood come to life with this set and there are plenty of intricate details for fans of both Disney and LEGO to discover.”

21326 Winnie the Pooh will launch on March 18 exclusively for VIP members, ahead of a wider launch on April 1, for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99. Stay tuned for our in-depth review, which lands online at 2pm UK time tomorrow, March 5.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
