LEGO Batman 1992 polybag doubles up as The Flash movie minifigure

A recently-revealed LEGO DC polybag includes a Batman 1992 minifigure that could double up for the character’s appearance in The Flash movie.

LEGO DC fans have been experiencing something of a drought recently, with products based on the comic book universe being few and far between. Any new models released seem to focus solely on the world of Batman, almost as if thousands of other DC characters don’t even exist.

That seems likely to continue for now, with rumours of a range of Bat-based playsets potentially arriving this summer and a new polybag featuring the Dark Knight having recently been revealed. 30653 Batman 1992 includes the first-ever minifigure of the title character from Tim Burton’s classic movie, Batman Returns, as well as a small grey gargoyle plinth build.

The minifigure features the same moulded cape-and-cowl combo from the 1989 sets, but with an updated Bat symbol on the chest and subtle changes to the torso. The good news for collectors is that 30653 Batman 1992 also doubles up to match the look of the character in the upcoming The Flash film.

As showcased in the most-recent trailer for the film, Michael Keaton’s costume remains relatively unchanged since his last cinematic outing, even if the main suit in the footage does now boast a black utility belt. However, the 1992 Bat costume can also be glimpsed in the trailer, alongside a selection of others stored in the Batcave, including the original 1989 version.

Rumours suggest that only one LEGO DC set may be on its way to support the upcoming movie, although 76221 Batmobile: Flash Tracking has yet to be confirmed. We’ll have to wait and see if that model becomes a reality at some point and if it will contain yet another updated Batman minifigure.

The Flash will be speeding on to big screens around the world on June 16, 2023.
