LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin visual tour and gallery

Based on a design by LEGO fan designer Andrea Lattanzio, here’s a look at all the stunning visual details for the newly-revealed LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin.

Set in a woodland area in the autumn, LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin presents a cosy atmosphere, with plenty of rustic details that convey the atmosphere of the cabin. Across the two storeys of its interior and outside into the deck area and wooded exterior, there are a number of elements that jump out at us after its official reveal.

The colours throughout the set perfectly highlight the autumnal setting, with the same nougat shade in the wood structure used in the three buildings from 21318 Tree House. The duo could make for an aesthetic pairing, with their warm tones and earthy style throughout.

Without further ado, here’s a visual tour of the upcoming LEGO Ideas sets, picking out some of the best details we’ve spotted along the way.

LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin exterior

Starting with the outside of 21338 A-Frame Cabin, the sloping roof of the cabin is its defining feature, as made clear by the name. However, extra depth is achieved with studs on the roof and wooden walls, giving a similar sense of texture as you would expect from a rustic cabin. The stone wall in the front uses what looks like Thor’s Hammer to create a truly cobbled-together look. Autumnal leaves hang from the brick-built trees, and there’s a canoe and various light fixtures so the minifigures can enjoy their time in the forest.

LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin interior

The inside is just as cosy as the outside, complete with a small kitchen and living space downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. There are plenty of details to dig into, from the cabin painting on the wall above the bed to the spider neighbour tucked away in the top of the roof. All of the light fixtures appear to be non-electric, like gas lamps and candles, adding to the rustic feel of the cabin.

LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin minifigures

For such an adorable scene, you’ll need some LEGO people to populate it. Four minifigures come with 21338 A-Frame Cabin, joined by five tiny animals to round out the scene. There are two women and two men, all decked out in warm sweaters and jackets, fit for a weekend away in a cabin during the autumn.

LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin details

As noted above, both the interior and exterior have various unusual details worth noting. First up is the reference to another LEGO Ideas set: 21327 Typewriter. The miniature typewriter is even set on a plate the same colour as the larger brick-built version. Around the back of the cabin is another (more immature) quirk – an outdoor toilet and shower. With no space inside for a bathroom, there’s a toilet roll attached to the wall and an open showerhead, implying these minifigures will be washing and doing their business au natural. The roof pieces also come off completely, making it easy to enjoy all of the interior details while the set is on display.

LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin new pieces

There are a number of both brand new and relatively new pieces included in LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin. The yellow butterfly looks to be the first printed one of its kind. In addition, the sand green leaves in the trees above are the first time that they’ve been seen in this colour, while their dark red counterparts are making their comeback for the first time since 2015. The otter is also relatively new, having only appeared in one LEGO City set before now. The canoe also looks to be getting more use than the only other time we’ve seen it in this colour, in 10292 The Friends Apartment.

LEGO Ideas 21338 A-Frame Cabin stands 28cm tall and 44cm wide and includes four minifigures. It’ll launch on February 1, 2023 for £159.99 / $179.99 / €179.99. Keep an eye out for our in-depth review coming soon, where we’ll dig into our favourite parts of this set in more detail.
