LEGO Star Wars 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter needs an upgrade

A major addition is now required for 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter in order to bring the LEGO Star Wars ship up to date.

Following a brief recap, last week’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 3 debut quickly brought fans up to speed with the story to date, setting up Din Djarin and Grogu’s next adventures in a galaxy far, far away. The second episode of the series dropped yesterday, bringing with it a monster-sized instalment of the Disney+ show. (Spoilers ahead)

In ‘The Mines of Mandalore,’ the characters first pay a visit to Tatooine where they meet up once again with engineer and scrap-dealer, Peli Motto. The Mandalorian seeks a rare component for the deactivated IG-11, but Motto offers him an alternative droid in the shape of fan favourite astromech, R5-D4. The nervous droid is soon slotted into Din Djarin’s N-1 Starfighter, relegating Grogu to the main cockpit.

R5-D4 first appeared in A New Hope, where his malfunctioning motivator resulted in Uncle Owen purchasing R2-D2 from Jawa traders instead. The red and white droid next popped up in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in Attack of the Clones and also in The Book of Boba Fett.

There’s no way of knowing how long R5-D4 will stick around for in Season 3 of the Disney+ show, but those wanting the most accurate version of 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter will now need to do some slight customising to the model, possibly digging deep into their bank balance in order to match the latest on-screen version of the ship. 

Removing the clear rear cockpit may potentially make room for an R5-D4 figure to be slotted inside (or at least it’s head piece), but the last time the droid appeared was in 2014’s long-since-retired 75059 Sandcrawler. Picking up the LEGO Star Wars UCS model now will set you back plenty on the secondary market, with a sealed copy costing at least £380. However, the R5-D5 droid figure itself can be obtained for as little as £11, making it a much cheap option for creating a version of 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter that more closely matches the on-screen ship.
