New LEGO Star Wars May the 4th short features a familiar UCS set

A familiar UCS set makes a surprise appearance in a new animated LEGO Star Wars short that’s been released to celebrate May the 4th.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, then Star Wars Day 2023 has been pretty difficult to miss. The May the 4th event is celebrated annually by fans around the world and even the LEGO Group is once again offering exclusive GWP items, multiple VIP points and plenty of special member rewards.

As part of the May the 4th celebrations, a new LEGO Star Wars animated short has dropped on the LEGO Group’s official YouTube channel. The tongue-in-cheek video is set at the conclusion of Return of the Jedi, with the film celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. In the short, a sad Wicket is cheered up by his friends and encouraged to join in with all the fun when Luke constructs a brick-built vehicle for the Ewok to fly around in.

The craft in question is of course 75355 X-wing Starfighter, which we’ve reviewed here, with the UCS set being the subject of the most-recent designer video. Also glimpsed in the short is a variant of the Luke Skywalker miniature with new hairpiece that’s included with 75352 Emperor’s Throne Room Diorama, although with an open shirt flap. Interestingly a new version of Princess Leia (Endor) can be seen in the video, with the minifigure having last appeared in another UCS set, 10236 Ewok Village (back in 2013), and also matching the character’s look in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
