LEGO Star Wars sets appear to sell faster than expected

LEGO Star Wars Day is always expected to attract huge amounts of Star Wars fans – but this year’s sales appear to have caught the LEGO Group by surprise.

LEGO Star Wars sets released in honour of May the 4th, such as 75355 X-wing Starfighter and 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer, have quickly moved to backorder or sold out completely in markets around the world. In the UK, both sets are on a 60-day backorder, while the Death Star-themed gift-with-purchase also rapidly sold out just halfway through its qualification window.

In Europe, the German LEGO store also saw both 75355 X-wing Starfighter and 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer quickly head into a 60-day backorder. A number of other LEGO Star Wars sets are also on backorder, including UCS 75331 The Razor Crest and 75308 R2-D2, although. it’s unclear if this only happened on May the 4th, or whether stock was low prior to this.

Heading across the ocean to the United States, not only is 75355 X-wing Starfighter on backorder, but 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer is entirely sold out on the official American LEGO website. While none of these listings mean that these sets are impossible to get in these markets (they could well still be available to buy in person from brick-and-mortar stores), it does show a high amount of interest in the sets, potentially higher than the LEGO Group expected.

Ordering them now means you will need to wait at least 60 days before your order will even be shipped. However, any GWPs that you qualify for within your order should still be fulfilled…provided stocks last.
