LEGO Stranger Things 75810 The Upside Down due to retire in 2021

The LEGO Group’s first – but possibly not only – Stranger Things set 75810 The Upside Down will apparently retire by the end of 2021.

That’s according to Brick Fanatics’ sources, which state the planned exit date for the 2,287-piece set is December 31, 2021. There’s a good chance it will be gone from LEGO.com and LEGO Store shelves before then, however, as production could cease weeks beforehand, allowing final stock to sell through in the run-up to 2022.

All this is to say that if you haven’t picked up 75810 The Upside Down yet, you may want to do so soon. And while it’s seemingly spent most of its shelf life as a one-off release, a recent tease from the LEGO Group now suggests more products from the Netflix series are on the way – perhaps to coincide with its fourth season – potentially driving up the collectability of the 2019 set.

After all, we’ve already seen with the likes of the Modular Buildings Collection and the Winter Village Collection how previous entries in an ongoing series can skyrocket in price after retirement – and if more Stranger Things sets truly are on the way, the same could easily happen to 75810 The Upside Down.

Bear in mind that the LEGO Group’s retirement dates are always in flux – 21318 Tree House was apparently originally due to leave shelves last year – so 75810 The Upside Down could be extended beyond 2021, particularly if any companion sets arrive later this year. For now, though, it’s just seven short months out from the great LEGO retirement home in the sky.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
