Five more LEGO Super Mario characters we want to see

With the reveal of upcoming LEGO Super Mario sets for summer 2022, here are five characters we want to see in future waves.

The LEGO Group is currently celebrating Mario Day with a whole host of bundles, freebies, promotions and new set announcements. The latter is particularly exciting for fans of the theme as 71403 Adventures with Peach also includes the first appearance of the Princess in LEGO form.

Other new characters making their debut in the summer 2022 range of sets include Lemmy, Kamek and Ludwig. However, even with some many classic Mario characters having been released to date, we still feel there are even more fan-favourite faces that could be included in potential future LEGO sets:

Birdo

This pink dinosaur-like character first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2 as a boss character in many levels. She’s since gone on to become more of an ally to Mario and friends and has popped up in many Nintendo games such as Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Paper Mario and Mario Tennis.

Rosalina

A magical princess, Rosalina made her debut in Super Mario Galaxy in 2007. She has powerful abilities and uses them to watch over the cosmos from her Comet Observatory. Rosalina would go on to appear in other Mario games including the Mario Kart and Mario Party series.

Waluigi

A mischief-maker and all-round bad egg, Waluigi is Luigi’s arch-rival. The character has attained something of a cult following over the years and often teams up with Wario to cause mayhem for the Mario Bros. Waluigi has popped up in the Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart and Mario Party games.

Donkey Kong

Another classic creation from Shigeru Miyamoto, Donkey Kong first appeared in his own self-titled game back in 1984. Although Mario himself was the hero of that title, DK would go on to star in a number of his own games and appear as a playable character in many other Nintendo outings over the years.

Wario

Mario’s rotund arch-rival is more of a comedic character than a genuine threat. Making his debut in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins in 1992, Wario has also starred in many of his own games. The look of the character would certainly make for an ideal interactive figure in a future LEGO Super Mario set.

The next wave of LEGO Super Mario sets will be available to pick up from August 1, 2022. Don’t forget, there’s still time to take advantage of two free LEGO Super Mario polybags with purchases in March, bonus VIP and My Nintendo points, plus free collectible coins available in-store.
