Sheffield to celebrate the Moon landing with LEGO space trail

This August, Sheffield Bricktropolis will bring space inspired LEGO models to the city for a special exhibition.

Sheffield Bricktropolis will return to the UK city this year, with a LEGO trail themed around space to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing. Displaying a series of models constructed by Bright Bricks, visitors will be able to follow the trail and locate 15 models around the city including builds featuring Neil Armstrong, the Vostok I rocket and the Saturn V rocket.

The model of Neil Armstrong will stand 1.9m tall, using 57,000 bricks.

“Last year, Sheffield Bricktropolis and its trail of world-famous landmarks attracted over 25,000 visitors. We hope to build on that success this year with a fantastic new outer space theme,” said Diane Jarvis, Sheffield BID Manager.

“One of Sheffield BID’s key objectives is to keep Sheffield City Centre busy throughout the year. August can be a quieter time with students away and many people on their summer holiday, so Bricktropolis is a great opportunity to get families, residents and new visitors into the city centre and support our local businesses.”

Free workshops and imaginative building will also be possible in the Interactive Building Zone, which will make use of an empty unit in the centre.
