Five new LEGO sets you may have overlooked in August 2021

A new season of LEGO sets is upon us, but within the dozens of fresh releases gracing the official online store today, there are a few you might have overlooked.

You’d be forgiven for forgetting about some of the new models when they are dozens that have just launched, and even more for those in the US.

We’re here to help you recall five new builds you may have overlooked amongst the August creations, from Seasonal sets to alternate Marvel timelines.

5 – 40493 Spider & Haunted House Pack

It’s apparently never too early to start preparing for Halloween for the LEGO Group as a duo of builds is included in 40493 Spider & Haunted House Pack to kickstart the spooky season.

Both are intended to hang as part of your Halloween decorations, a fitting technique for the wide-eyed spider. The other decoration is a direct reference to 10228 Haunted House too.

4 – 71389 Lakitu Sky World Expansion Set

LEGO Super Mario has just launched one of its most exciting waves yet for players with the introduction of multiplayer thanks to Luigi and a whole host of two-player expansion sets to boot.

71389 Lakitu Sky World Expansion Set is one of the new models and allows fans to use both LEGO Mario and Luigi to take out the cloud-riding Lakitu whilst dodging Bullet Bills and Fuzzys, two rare characters from 71361 Character Packs.

3 – 75311 Imperial Armored Marauder

Amongst the trio of LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian builds releasing today is one that may have passed you by for its lack of new characters. However, 75311 Imperial Armored Marauder is anything but a set to ignore thanks in part to the diversity it brings to LEGO Stormtroopers.

The model itself depicts a vehicle from the second season of The Mandalorian and across the intergalactic saga. The Armored Marauder has room for more than a few soldiers inside for just £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99. You can read our early review for a closer look at the creation.

2 – 76201 Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper

What if Steve Rogers was never chosen for the super-soldier serum? That’s exactly the question that 76201 Captain Carter & the Hydra Stomper poses as a set exploring the infinite possibilities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As can be seen in our review, this model will be the first chance to get a Peggy Carter Minifigure before 71031 Marvel Studios arrives, and with them being different versions of the same character – you can never have too many Captain Carters.

1 – 42128 Heavy-duty Tow Truck

Rounding out the list is one of two LEGO Technic sets released in August, with the least expensive of the duo not needing the CONTROL+ app for its many functions.

42128 Heavy-duty Tow Truck uses pneumatic air pumps to control the crane and booms and the extending supports will give you the stability needed to clear the streets of your LEGO city.
