LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71031 Marvel Studios breaks the hairpiece mould

With the inclusion of a new hairpiece for one of the characters from LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71031 Marvel Studios, the LEGO Group is taking a step in the right direction for diverse minifigure representation.

In WandaVision, Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris, wears her hair naturally and was praised by many Black TV critics for doing so. When it comes to recreating that look in LEGO form, there was no existing hairpiece to really do it justice.

The designers have therefore created a whole new element for Rambeau’s minifigure to better represent what Parris’ natural hair looks like. The hairpiece captures the character’s side-parted look that she wears for the majority of the show (aside from when she’s thrown back into outfits from the past by Wanda’s magic).

It’s definitely a step in the right direction for better portrayals of well-known characters like Monica, moving away from the classic smooth hairstyles of LEGO minifigures from the past.
